Hitachi Excavator Boom

Fatigue cracking of Hitachi excavator booms is a widely known problem.

Mechatronix has undertaken substantial modelling of the benefits of composite reinforcement and recently treated an EX 5500 boom. A comprehensive approach is now available to reduce fatigue cracking severity at the boom foot, at the corners between the internal diaphragms and the lower flange and outside web, and at the cylinder bosses. Illustrated below are the composite reinforcements installed on an EX5500 boom.
